About

Chase Gage is an Anchor/Reporter for Region 8 News (KAIT) in Jonesboro, Arkansas.

Currently, he anchors Good Morning Region 8 Monday through Friday from 4:30am until 7am (and sometimes anchors/produces Midday at 11am). He was officially promoted to anchor in June of 2022.

Before that, he was the Live/Breaking News Reporter for Good Morning Region 8 from January 2022 until his promotion. For whatever reason, he willingly switched to that position (where his hours were 3am to noon) from Dayside Reporter (9:30am to 6:30pm). He had normal human hours for just four months, from September through December 2021.

Chase started at KAIT as a Production Assistant, where he ran audio for Good Morning Region 8 from June 2021 until his promotion to full-time reporter in September of the same year. For those doing the math, that’s three promotions and four positions in roughly one calendar year.

From the Audio Booth to the Anchor Desk: The Story of Chase Gage

Nice title for a KAIT-themed autobiography, no?

Before all that j-o-b stuff, Chase graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Multimedia Journalism from Arkansas State University in December of 2020 during the heart of the COVID-19 pandemic. Maybe that helps explain why he is the way he is.

While in college, Chase won several awards for his stories, including two SPJ Diamond Awards and two ACMA awards. He also set the record for the most snacks eaten by a student in a college career. He has mixed feelings about the plaque the NCAA sent him.

Chase has a big personality that shines through when he’s on screen. He can be serious and cover any type of news story…however, he prefers emotional features where he can dive into the heart of the subjects at the center and use their stories to inspire viewers.

He loves to laugh and cut up when appropriate, especially on the morning show as viewers get ready for their day. Putting that positive energy into their lives puts a smile on his face, even if he’s actually about to pass out from lack of sleep.

Chase married his best friend on October 22nd, 2022 at Crowleys Ridge State Park. He and his wife, Shelly, have a dog — Rocko — and three cats (one if the landlord asks) — Raisins, Muffin, and PBJ. In their spare time, they try to determine how many Texas Roadhouse rolls it would take to physically decapacitate a full-grown human. Their record is 173 in one sitting. That may or may not be a joke.
